Obituary for Antonio Pires
Antonio Pires, 87, beloved husband of 62 years to Maria Marques Pires, passed away after a brief illness on October 16, 2018, with his loving family by his side. Antonio was born in Faia, Guarda, Portugal to the late Bartolomeo Pires and Zulmira (Da Gloria) Pires, but was a lifelong resident of Ludlow. He was a devout Catholic and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Antonio retired in 1996 from Milton Bradley and in his spare time, he took pride in his garden and making homemade wine with his son, Carlos. Family was most import to him and he cherished his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye. In addition to his parents, Antonio was predeceased by his sister, Maria De Lourdes Martins, his son in laws, Jorge Valdez and Juan Carlos Simao. Antonio leaves his wife Maria; his son, Carlos Pires (Kathleen Trudeau) of Monson; his daughters Graciela Simao of Argentina, and Elba Pires-Valdez (Fernando Morgado, Fiance) of Ludlow; brother, Jose Pires of Ludlow, and sister, Lucilia Pires of Portugal; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and many loving family members in Ludlow and Portugal. Calling Hours are Friday, October 19th, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Health South Rehab Center for their exceptional care, compassion and kind words., especially his nurses, Jessica, Paul, and Dan.
