Obituary for Beverly A. (Vincent) Jennings
Beverly A. Jennings, 79, of Ludlow, MA, passed away on February 24, 2018. Born in Teaneck, NJ, daughter of the late Walter and Elsie Vincent, Beverly was known for her school spirit and organizational skills as a girl, leading and coordinating many clubs and activities. It was no surprise that she went on to become a proud graduate of the prestigious Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York. She married and moved to Ludlow nearly 60 years ago, raising four boys, who were the central focus of her life.
Beverly held positions as an office administrator, payroll processor, medical transcriptionist and literary proofreader, forming lifelong friendships with many of her coworkers. Shortly after retiring, she went on to become the professional secretary for the Springfield Rotary Club, a job in which she delighted, as it reminded her of the club activities of her school days.
A woman of many interests and natural talents, she loved painting, drawing, sewing, quilting and crafts, finding special pleasure in making gifts for friends and family. She loved playing piano and organ, and served for a time as the organist for St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Palmer. Above all, Beverly’s favorite passion was reading. She collected a vast library of books on numerous subjects, WWII history being one of her favorites.
Beverly will be missed by her beloved sons; Darren Jennings, of Port Charlotte, FL, Robert Jennings, of Chicopee, MA, and Paul Jennings, of North Colonie, NY, their spouses, and many loving extended family members and dear friends. A private service for family will see her laid to rest at Hillcrest Park Cemetery, beside her beloved son Kevin Jennings and former husband Gardner Jennings. There are no visiting hours and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beverly’s memory to The Rotary Club of Springfield, PO Box 1033, Springfield, MA, 01101.
