Obituary for Carol Hood
Carol (Ladyleadfoot) Hood had her ride on Earth cut short, in a motorcycle accident on 10/8/2018.
She was an avid motorcyclist, and had just earned her 80,000 mile pin from the Harley Owner’s Group. She enjoyed “wind dancing,“ as she called it. She could be seen anywhere from Maine to West Virginia, on her bike, named “Imp.” Which stands for “In memory – piglet”.
She was a warrior! Came back from a horrible accident 5+ years ago, fought and beat cancer, and continued to battle chronic pain and other illnesses, but she NEVER gave up, or stopped smiling. She is an organ donor, who will help other people live on!
LL was an excellent Scrabble player, she joined in many game nights at local libraries. She also enjoyed gardening, and had a patch of day lilies that brightened the lawn. She cared for her “fur babies” with all the love she had for people. The fur babies population varied over the years, from one cat, to six, and is now down to two.
She had a large collection of books acquired over many years. Most of them had been read so many times, they were falling apart. Building Jigsaw puzzles, coloring and painting her nails in many colors were also her passions. She LOVED the rainbow, and collected every color nail polish she could find. One of her joys was shopping in used book stores or collecting amazing colored nail polishes, and bringing her treasures home in Imp’s saddlebags.
As a proud Navy Veteran who repaired submarines at Pearl Harbor Naval Submarine Base, she supported many fundraisers for Veterans. She was an Associate Member of the Massachusetts chapter of the Silent Service MC.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Rumian and two Fur babies - “AB” and “BB”. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Carol on Friday, October 19th, 2018 from 3:30-6:00pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East Street in Ludlow.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to any local Motorcyclist Rights Organization (MMA, CMRA, etc), a no-kill animal shelter such as Dakin, or the Sister of Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Hospital.
And one last message from LL, “Keep your rubber side down and your smiles side up!”, Ladyleadfoot.
