Obituary for Estanislau N. Cacela
Estanislau “Lau” N. Cacela, 93, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Alcobaca, Portugal, he was a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for a national company and was instrumental in the distribution of power lines throughout Portugal. In 1970, he immigrated to the U.S, settling in Ludlow, where he was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and worked for many years at Spaulding Co. before retiring. Estanislau was a talented musician, and in his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, wine making, hunting, fishing, and especially spending time with his family. Estanislau was the beloved husband of 65 years to Ana (Lucas) Cacela; a loving father to Antonio Cacela and wife Lauren, of Holden, Luis Cacela and wife Maria, of Wilbraham, and Maria Batista and husband John, of Ludlow; a cherished grandfather to John and wife Brianna, Christopher and wife Marci, Justin, Jillian, Jacob, Carl, Samuel, and Jack; great-grandfather to twins Isabelle and Olivia, and Dylan; dear brother to Adriano Estanislau, of East Longmeadow, Tiadora and Ramiro, both of Portugal; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Estanislau will be on Wednesday, October 10th from 8:30-10:15 AM at Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
