John "Jay" Brady, 69, of Naples, FL and Ludlow passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Boston, Jay was the son of the late John and Phyllis (Hogan) Brady and grew up in Brookline. After graduating high school, he relocated to Western Massachusetts to pursue his education at Springfield College, where he excelled as a gymnast on a championship team. Jay obtained both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Springfield College and later earned an MBA from WNEC. Throughout his career, he dedicated his services to various medical centers, including UMass Medical Center in Worcester, St. Francis Hospital in CT, and Baystate Medical Center, where he served as a Human Resource Administrator for over 30 years until his retirement in 2019. He enjoyed playing pickleball at various locations including his residence in Naples FL, the Scantic Valley YMCA, and Borgatti Park in Agawam, and was a “beast” on the pickleball court (in a great competitive way). In earlier years, he was also an avid cross-country skier and runner. Jay cherished his family trips to Aruba, Disneyworld, and recent travels throughout the world. However, his greatest joy in life came from spending time with his family. Jay will be remembered as a soft spoken, humble man with a quiet energy, all qualities that made him an exceptional human. He was always a gentleman, a great sport, and so kind to all. He will be deeply missed.
Jay was the beloved husband of 43 years to Lydia (Battista) Brady; a loving father to Maya Brady and her fiancé Will Fan of Stamford, CT and Alexander Brady and his wife Molly of Ludlow; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Jay was predeceased by his sisters Diane and Patricia Brady, and his canine companion Bailey. Celebration of Life services for Jay will be held on Saturday, March 23rd. Visiting hours are from 10:00am-12:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a funeral home chapel service at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay’s memory to The American Heart Association (heart.org), Dana Farber Cancer Center, or Dakin Humane Society (dakin humane.org).
