Obituary for Karen P. (Longo) (Placzek)
Karen (Longo) Placzek, 71, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and Patricia (Langlois) Longo, she was a lifelong resident and devoted communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Karen was also a graduate of Commerce H.S. and received her hairdressing certification from STCC. She worked at various hair salons throughout the community and most recently at Longo Carpet Cleaning before retiring. Karen was beloved wife of 49 years to the late Ronald Placzek, who predeceased her last year; a loving mother to Susan Mann of Belchertown and John Placzek and wife Bonnie of Ludlow; a cherished grandmother to Tiffany, Samantha, and Zachary Mann; and Nico and Jordyn Placzek; the dear sister of Robert, Richard, Christopher, Michael, Jonathan, and Anthony Longo. and Pamela White; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 11th from 6:00-8:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home. Family and friends are then asked to gather on Friday morning directly at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00am for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
