Obituary for Peter Hawrylciw
Peter Hawrylciw, 99 of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on October 28, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born in Ludlow, son of the late Dmitro and Mary (Cypuk) Hawrylciw, he was a lifelong resident and an active and devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Prior to WWII, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and later proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Peter was a life member of VFW Post 3236 and worked for over 43 years for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1983. He was also an expert skier and continued to ski into his 90’s earning him membership in the Over 90’s Ski Club. Sadly, Peter was predeceased by his siblings: Walter, John, Michael, and Stephen Hawrylciw, and Sophie S. Carrow. He leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends throughout the community.
Funeral services for Peter will be held on Tuesday, November 6th at 9:15am in Ludlow Funeral Home with Funeral Mass at 10:00am in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Monday from 5:00-7:00pm with Panakhyda at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church 45 Newbury St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
